About the project

ADRION EMOUNDERGROUNDS is a project directly contributing to the valorisation of exceptional cultural heritage and its potential, with a view to enabling sustainable, smart and inclusive development of the entire ADRION area. The overall project objective is to boost the attractiveness/competitiveness of selected transnational tourist destinations creating a new common cultural-creative tourist product. The project provides innovative solutions to improve the enjoyment potential of users by using virtual reality rooms, smart mobile applications, holographic demos, interactive screens/projections. The following cultural sites are part of the project: Acquaviva d’Aragona castle in Nardò; Pius’ Palace in Carpa, Chlemoutsi castle in Andravida-Killini, Gradina castle in Rijeka, St. Michael’s Fortress in Šibenik, Štanjel Castle in Koper, Podsmreka Castle in Ivančna Gorica, old underground city in Kukës, Old Town and King Nikola’s Palace in Bar, fortresses in Trebinje and their underground areas.

Totem

Three totems procured by the project provide additional media for presenting digital content about the fortresses and their underground spaces.

The totems will be installed in the centre of Trebinje and in the complex of the Herzegovina Museum.

They will feature photos and videos about the fortresses at Strač, Kličanj, Golo brdo and Petrina, as well as basic information about the VR presentation of the underground spaces prepared by the project.

VR

In the basement of the Museum of Herzegovina, VR equipment is set up offering a virtual tour of the Trebinje fortresses. The tour starts from the same room in its virtual iteration, where a hologram of Baron Leighter appears to give an introduction about the VR experience.

After that, we go to the dovecote and then take on the form of a pigeon to fly above the fortresses of Strač, Golo brdo, Petrina and Kličanj. We can visit each of the fortresses and walk through its rooms, with Baron Leightner providing narration.

Once we have visited all four fortresses, we go back to the dovecote where General Ferdinand Zahradnik asks us questions and gives us the task of taking a message to the Strač Fortress. While flying, we can be attacked by an eagle. If we successfully avoid the eagle’s attacks and deliver the message, we will get another task in the basement of the Strač Fortress. After we successfully complete our mission, we can take a virtual Museum tour where we can pick up select exhibits and examine them from all sides.
